Den Nationale Scene is the largest and oldest theatre in Bergen, Norway. Founded in 1850 under the name Det Norske Theatre, it is the oldest permanent theatre in the country.[1][unreliable source?] The current building, designed by architect Einar Oschar Schou, was finished in 1909. Since 1993, the theatre has been state property.
