Debbie Hughes (born May 14, 1958[citation needed] in Lexington, Kentucky)[1] is a multiple-award-winning American artist specializing in Science Fiction and Fantasy illustration. Her work has appeared in over 150 publications including book covers for Baen Books, P&S Publishing http://store.pspublishing.co.uk/http://store.pspublishing.co.uk/, Editorial Presença,[1] frontispieces for Easton Press, Magazine illustration including works for Amazing Stories, Realms of Fantasy, Science Fiction Age Magazine, Game Card work including |}Wizards of the Coast, DuneÆ: Eye of the StormTM - Published by Last Unicorn Games & Five Rings Publishing Group, Iron Crown Enterprises, DragonStorm, Thunder Castle Games, Mayfair Games, Companion Games, Iron Crown Enterprises, Precedence Games,CD Rom titles for gaming companies including Cyberflix and Paramount Interactive,The Learning Company and Broderbund, The bookworm and Borderbund education.

Hughes is the granddaughter of Hildegarde Hamilton,[2] a prolific and famous landscape painter, impressionist in style, and listed in many publications including:Who's who in Art, Who's who in American Art Who's who in the Southeast, E. Benezit, Paris.
Hughes received her BA from Furman University. Her first published cover was for Science Fiction Chronicle. Her next book covers appeared on Baen Books in 1989 which included covers for Roger Zelazny and Don Wismer, followed by Frontispiece work for Easton Press/MBI books which included illustration for such notable authors as Alexei Panshin, Sir Kingsley Amis, Charles Pellegrino, Mike Resnick, Allen Steel, Gentry Lee and Jack McDevitt. Other work that followed were interiors for Amazing Stories Magazine, Science Fiction Age Magazine and Realms of Fantasy Magazine. Recent work: Illustration for Sheri S. Tepper's novel The Margarets published by Easton Press, illustration for Nancy Farmer's Sea of Trolls published by Editorial Presenca, Portugal and illustration for Postscripts Cover, Spring issue 6, 2006, P & S Publishing, UK. 2006.
Hughes' work has also been seen in the CD Rom games "JumpRaven" and "Dust". The Bookworm's Illustrated Classic Series, and The Learning Company's, Learn to Speak Series as well as Reader Rabbit.
Her Collectible Game Card (CCG) work includes work for Wizards of the Coast, Thunder Castle Games, DragonStorm Games, Mayfair Games, Companion Games, Last Unicorn Games & Five Rings Publishing and Iron Crown Enterprises.
In addition, Hughes has been the artist guest of honor at many conventions in the North and Southeast United States. She is listed in the newest edition of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists of the Twentieth Century written by Jane Frank.
