I don't have the book anymore, so I can't verify this, but didn't this novel take place in (or near) Pacific Grove? It may have even been stated explicitly, but several factors also imply this location (the butterflies, for one) --UsaSatsui 13:28, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
I changed the genre from young adult novel to middle grade novel. Unfortunately, the second category doesn't appear to be a valid Wikipedia genre, so please change if you can think of a better one. However, this is NOT a young adult book-- it is illustrated, fairly short, and, as noted in the article, is written for about a fourth or fifth grade interest level. Elizabeth Lund im here
