This page is about me, I wanted to get it before someone else tries. My full name is David Edward Silvan and I live in N/NE Philadelphia, PA. My birthdate is Feb. 15th 1977, making me an aquarius, if you follow that shit, which i don't. My 21st birthday was on a Tuesday and no one was at the bar (well, lenny was there) and I only did 12 or 14 shots before calling it quits.

I am the youngest of 4 children, from a saint of a mother and a demon of a father. Mother finally divorced Leon Walter Silvan Jr. in November of 2005, 28 years late by my calculations. In addition to forging her signature to buy a property in Florida, he also slept around on her numerous times. One woman even went so far as to call my sister, the only Silvan listed in the Philadelphia phone book (because my mother goes by her maiden name now) to ask why no one in his family would talk to him. She was the daughter of the woman who was now seeing Leon.

I graduated 73rd out of 435 students in 1995 from Cardinal Dougherty High School, 6301 N. Second Street, Philadelphia PA 19120-1599. On the morning of my graduation, leon came down in his bathrobe into the living room, where everyone else was gathered up in their Sunday best to come to my graduation, and asked me if I minded if he just stayed home. I don't remember what I said and I know i tried to play it off as nonchalant, but i was pissed. Ruined my day, at least. After graduation I enrolled at Drexel University, also in Philadelphia, full of hopes and aspirations.

Then I discovered that everything the gubment told me about drugs was a lie.. I never had any 'formal' drug education, I don't remember ever hearing anything about it other than in grade school, where we learned that alcohol and asperin are drugs too. I remember Nancy Reagan appearing in an episode of 'Diff'rent Strokes' preaching 'just say no,' and neither my mother nor my dead-beat dad ever talked to me about drugs. I had my first beer when I was 13 and we were on vacation in the bahamas. (See this email from leon here: http://www.davesilvan.com/6pers/leon/index.html ) Also, back in 7th grade, Richard Calhoun and I cut the May Procession from St. Helena's and walked around the neighborhood, where we found an unopened pack of cigarettes on the 2' wall around the resevoir. We smoked one and he crushed the rest of the pack. Damn him.

Nicotine/tobacco and alcohol are by far the two most dangerous drugs, and yet they're legal. I started dabbling in drugs which reinforced the fact that everything the gubment tells you about drugs is lies. After pledging Theta Chi fraternity and dropping out of school, I worked for a year at Dave n' Busters as a barback before finding a job at Drexel University so I could continue my studies.

On July 19th, 2001, in a drunken stupor over some girl that i had just broken up with, I went to Cavanaugh's Bar & Grill, which is owned by one of Theta Chi's alumni. Since there was nothing going on at that bar, I decided to go with my little (fraternity) brother to Dave n' Buster's, where I used to work in 1997. It should be said that I don't remember any of this ordeal; I don't remember dumping this girl, I don't remember anything about it.

From what I was told, when we left Dave n' Buster's, I hopped on my motorcycle, a brand new (at the time) 2001 600cc Honda CBR-F4i, and sped off, while my little struggled to kick-start his clunker 1950's import bike. He found me a few minutes later lying on the road just after the tunnel under the Phila. Art Museum. He told me that we had talked about using the tunnel before we went, which I used to love because it's a nice straight stretch of road that no one ever uses and I would open my bike up to 90-100 mph on it, then it veers right, then left, where it rejoins Spring Garden Avenue. I didn't make the turn. To make matters worse, I hadn't worn my helmet.

Injuries from the wreck include: broken collarbone, broken shoulderblade, 2 broken ribs, a hole punched in one of my lungs from the broken ribs, and *musical fanfare* 5 skull fractures. I don't remember any of this either because I was put into a drug-induced coma for 5 months, to prevent me from pulling any tubes out of myself that the hospital had put on me. The hospital told my family that I'd never walk again and that I'd never use my left arm again (again, from what I was told) but I was walking with difficulty. (Briefly at one point I had a 4-footed cane, and I still have the wheelchair that was bought with my money in our basement.)

I awoke from my coma in late December/early January of 2002, having no clue what was going on, where I was, etc. Also, my hearing was ever-so-slowly being removed by ototoxic drugs, 'ototoxic' meaning 'drugs that are capable of damaging the inner ear/hearing structure.' I still remember the session of Speech Therapy i was in when Miss Robinson said, 'I want you to try something, you seem to be having difficulty hearing,' as she pulled a 'hearing amplifier' out of her desk. It looks like a small sony walkman and had to be worn out in the open because it amplifies any sound it picks up. They had just decided not to tell me that my hearing was going because of the drugs they were giving me, which I continued to take until I'd moved home and we'd gotten Comcast internet because I couldn't use a telephone any more.

I moved home on Feb. 1st, 2002. Leon had the audacity to show up at our house some time in late February, saying that he had gone to Moss Rehab (where I did my rehab) and asked to see me and they wouldn't let him. This was a lie, and if he had even just called Moss, they would have told him that I moved home on Feb. 1st.

After enrolling in Drexel as a mechanical engineer, where myself and Sean Sandone from Apple Pi (Alpha Pi something, which has since been shut down by Drexel) completely rebuilt a k•nex car for our Freshman Design project, placing us 3rd (tied for 2nd really, but we should have had 2nd place alone because the other car never cleared the jump, while our car made the jump but the rear wheels got caught on the landing ramp and it sputtered away uselessly, stuck on the landing ramp. This was the goal of the Freshman Design competition: to design a car built with only the materials given to us by the university, which was a bunch of K•nex pieces and some rubber bands, which, while confined to a 1-yard wide path, must travel 30 feet, jump a ramp, and continue another 10 feet after landing. Each time your car cleared the jump, it was enrolled for the next round, which widened the gap another 6 inches. It started at 2 feet, and we cleared 2 feet, 2.5 feet, and 3 feet, before stuttering to an end in the fourth round, when there were only a handful of cars left that had made it successfully each time.

Each member of our team got a brand new Hewlett-Packard 38G graphic calculator. The first place winners each got a lifetime supply of K•nex. Ha ha!

So after placing third in the Freshman Engineering Contest, which was held early in our freshman year in 1995, I joined a fraternity, and dropped out, which I had expected, because I had no source of money, I was just winging it. After sophomore year I dropped out and moved into the fraternity house, where I lived in room 10 for a good 4 years, holding the positions of Secretary, Web Chair (I was the first to design our chapter's website, which is now available at http://www.davesilvan.com/5ox/oldsite/index.html just for historical purposes, I suppose.)

Now I'm on disability and nearly deaf, and I spend my time fixing up this property in N/NE Philadelphia, which my mom got out of the divorce case. She is also now entitled to $175,000.00 out of Leon's retirement fund, which she herself can't touch until she turns 65, which will be Feb. 5th 2011.

This property was bought by both my parents in 1975 for $35,000, because it was a 'fixer-upper,' but instead of fixing it up, Leon decided it would be easier if he just ran around on my mother. It has great potential, and was built in 1908, and I'd really enjoy having a centenial party for it in 2008, but I have to get it fixed up.

You can visit my personal site at www.davesilvan.com to see all the menial stuff I'm doing to fix it up.
