Dave Bronconnier was elected Calgary’s 35th mayor on October 15, 2001. Mayor Bronconnier has led an ambitious program of municipal infrastructure development, which includes construction of major traffic interchanges and the extension of Calgary’s light rail transit system. Under Dave’s leadership, the city of Calgary has invested $600 million in transportation over the past three years. His commitment to addressing Calgary’s infrastructure funding challenges ensured that the fuel taxes revenue sharing agreement between the the city and the province of Alberta remained in place. Despite provincial proposals to severely cut this funding. Inside city hall, mayor Bronconnier initiated a program to strengthen the accountability of city administrators to city council. The mayor’s purpose is to “change the way that public business is done at city hall”, ensuring excellence in service delivery and prudent management of taxpayer resources. Mayor Bronconnier has been instrumental in facilitating partnerships with local homebuilders, not-for-profit organizations and other levels of government implementing affordable housing initiatives. He also spearheaded a review and restructuring of Calgary Economic Development, reaffirming Calgary’s commitment to being a city of choice for international business and tourism. Dave has a sincere interest in maintaining Calgary’s world-class reputation as a City that respects and protects the environment. During his first term as Mayor, The City of Calgary became the first city in North America to receive the prestigious ISO14001 certification for environmental stewardship. Mayor Bronconnier was also a driving force behind the creation of the Legacy Parks initiative, to create three new regional parks in Calgary and upgrade existing park land.

Mayor Bronconnier has worked closely with other mayors from across Canada to press the federal government for a “New Deal for Cities”. This initiative has been successful in securing a full refund of federal GST charges on municipalities. This refund will be dedicated to quality of life infrastructure projects for the next 5 years. This $100 Million Community Investment Fund will provide matching capital dollars for important community amenities such as the Zoo, Heritage Park, the Science Centre and the central Library. Dave is also a strong advocate of sharing a portion of federal fuel taxes with municipalities for transportation infrastructure. Dave Bronconnier is 41 years old. He and his wife Cindy have four young school children.

and that concludes what i have to tell you about dave bronconnier.!
(this was changed on thursday march 15/07!!!!!)

Why is it that, whenever any criticism of Mr. Bronconnier goes up on wikipedia it is delted automatically.

204.191.69.136 23:01, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Maybe for the same reason why unsourced criticism is alphad (sic!), betad (sic!!), and gammad (sic!!!) automatically.  ;)

[edit] Regarding the deletion proposal

Folks, this delete tag looks like straight-up retaliation for someone tagging the article on Alnoor Kassam. May I present, strictly in my role as amicus curiae, Exhibit A? Please note that Bronconnier is indeed a duly elected and serving mayor, thus satisfying that criterion for Wikipedia inclusion. Beltliner 18:25, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Boy what a load of butt kissing for Bronco. Well, at least mention the Enmax privatization initiative, and how that has driven the electricity costs up in the city. Please also mention the stall in NEW JOBS CREATED, and how the city is still driven by the Wallmart and Tim Hortons economy models. It should also mention the bullying approach Bronco takes with whoever opposes him. The local media censorship would be a plus too. Anyways, wikipedia is supposed to be biased by nature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.53.135.152 (talk) 02:25, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
