David Starobin

David Starobin (born September 27, 1951 in New York City) is an American classical guitarist and record producer.
Starobin started playing the guitar at the age of seven. He studied first with Manuel Gayol, and then with Albert Valdes Blain and Aaron Shearer at the Peabody Conservatory. Starobin has chaired the guitar departments of Brooklyn College, Bennington College, the North Carolina School of the Arts, the State University of New York at Purchase, and, from 1993 to 2004, the Manhattan School of Music.
In 1981, Starobin founded the record label Bridge Records, Inc., a distinguished independent record label that specializes in 20th century classical music. Starobin is president of Bridge Records which to date has been nominated for 16 Grammy Awards and has received two Grammys.
Starobin's "New Music With Guitar" series, now in its sixth volume, is recognised as a landmark in guitar recording. He has received eleven Grammy Award nominations.
