[edit] Changes 28th July
I have expanded the 'fake photo' event and also added in the party politics section and details on the battle to introduce party names to Jersey ballot papers which Mr. Pearce initiated through the PPC.
Also added in the complaint to the PCC and the results of the mediation.
I think it's fair to describe him as a Liberal-conservative since he has stated it in numerous letters to the JEP.

[edit] May 2007 Coverage
Mr. Pearce in an open letter to Jersey indicated that he had identified eighteen innaccuracies and misleading statements in the JEP article of May 24th and that he had made a complaint to the Press Complaints Commission.
I have accounted for these by making the political philosophy section less definitive and adding in some of the ifs, buts and maybes that Mr. Pearce indicates should have been in the JEP.
Please do not revert as there is the potential for problems for wikipedia.

As I too was on the circulation for Darius's letter I did not immediately realize that it is not in the public domain, which is a difficulty for independent Wikipedia editors. Although there is a verification problem, I certify that the letter does exist and has been widely privately distributed, beyond Darius's own clique. I therefore endorse Richard's warning

[edit] Independent Review - Recent Changes
I do not think that, unless permission has been granted, biographies of living people should mention family members unless they also have a high profile. That is private and personal information and could breach Data Protection guidelines.
There are some very odd places where "National Assembly" and the like has been use instead of States of Jersey; I have adjusted these.
There is no "politicial scale" in sociology/politics in the same way, as for instance, IQ, is recognised in psychology; I have removed this as it adds no real information. It also seems to judgemental and partial rather than factual.
Abuse of Trust legislation came about after a Scrutiny Panel had submissions regarding the law regarding sexual parity for hetersexual / gay people and was brought in by Wendy Kinnard as Minister for Home Affairs; anyone could make submissions on this, and many people did; it is misleading to suggest DP brought it about single handed.
I see that many citations have now been made, and I think the citations needed could well be withdrawn.

[edit] Deletion Debates
Article has been subject of a recent Afd and DelRev debate following on from an overturned prod and a contested speedy delete.

Check my talk page for Jersey resident editors should you wish to re-nominate for Afd.

[edit] Names on Papers
Please add a fuller account of how Mr. Pearce's work led to the inclusion of party names on papers. The proposition by PPC was based on one by Deputy Geoff Southern of the Jersey Democratic Alliance, and if you cannot show Mr. Pearce's involvement this section should be deleted
- Ref added, though still awaiting Press Complaints Commission publication of the results of the mediation process on their website, will ref asap. The article does not say he was responsible for the proposition, just for re-igniting the debate, no one person was solely responsible and I am sure that Geoff Southern also played a part though his amendments to the proposition were rejected if I recall correctly other than the one about publishing a list of members of each party. The Jersey Democratic Alliance did not get any coverage on this issue until after the proposition was lodged, DP did for a couple of weeks before hand, on the BBC especially, I would say both played a significant part. [edit] References
Hi. I have just re-visited this page, and am concerned to note that all the Progress Jersey dot com links redirect to a holding page, thus rendering sources for much of the information contained in the article unproven. There needs to be a re-appraisal of all those statements and claims, and whether there are other current references that could be substituted. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 21:54, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- It appears (despite no sources on the internet being available to back up the information I have received) that the subject of this article has suffered changed circumstances to a large degree, such that his notability may be called into question in the future. The informant also intimates that one or more of the subject's own website ventures, which also serve as major sources in the article, have been discontinued (Progress Jersey is now a domain parking page). I have tagged the article to raise my concerns, although I will not be offering it up as an AfD, due to a lack of proof of these concerns. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 20:43, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

- Subject is currently taking the Minister of Home Affairs to the Royal Court in Jersey, still very much in the news and politically active. Plus Jersey is amidst it's own scandal and Mr. Pearce is not involved. RichardColgate (talk) 06:31, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
