The Darwen Esteem is a single-deck body built by the Darwen Group for the MAN 12.240, Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Dart and Alexander Dennis Enviro 300 chassis.
Originally known as the East Lancs Esteem, when East Lancashire Coachbuilders went into administration, they were bought by Darwen and the Esteem was subsequently renamed.
Metrobus have the largest number of the original East Lancs Esteems, approximately half of which is on the OmniTown chassis while the other half are on Dennis Dart SLF chassis (which is being replaced by the Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Dart). Other companies who have Esteems in service are Preston Bus, Heathrow Airport (on contract to an operator) and many more.
There are also two double-deck variants of this body - the Darwen Olympus and the Darwen Visionaire (open top). An open top single decker, the Panaire is also available.
A East Lancs demonstrator has toured the UK (2006/2007, some of the main places it has been to are London, with Blue Triangle; Nottingham, with Nottingham City Transport; Reading, with Reading Buses Picture, Blackburn, with Blackburn Transport and Southampton, with Uni-link.
The first cutomers of the new Darwen Esteem are Preston Bus, one of whose was shown at Coach and Bus Live 2007.
