[edit] Biography & personality

Darren Tate aka 'DT8' is an international producer and club DJ born in London, England on 22nd October 1972.[1] As a classically trained musician, Darren has worked with a wide range of international artists and world class song writers with whom he collaborates regularly. He has also worked in the areas of television, film and musical theatre.

One of Darren's earliest memories in an interview he gave with International DJ Magazine was pushing comedian Ronnie Corbett into a swimming pool when he was 3. He started life in the public spotlight early, appearing in various TV adverts, a fact he finds quite funny to this day. During his childhood he attended boarding school for ten years, an experience that he did not enjoy. As he got older he was trained in several classical music instruments, studied Music at Leeds University and enjoyed a great deal of success in television, film and musical theatre, even if his first experience in a studio in 1994 did not go that well.

In a DMC magazine interview of March 2007 Darren stated that his favourite record ever was Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack. In the same interview it was revealed that three of his biggest influences in life are Stevie Wonder, John Williams and Brian Eno. Darren has a son who was a year old in February 2007.

Like many of his fellow DJs, Tate has used a large number of pseudonyms, perhaps masking the large contribution he has made to electronic music in the 21st century. His first project was a joint effort with fellow superstar Judge Jules in 2000. Together with Jules's wife, Amanda O'Riordan, they named themselves Angelic. Later the same year, he cut a few tracks under the name Orion. September 2002 saw the return of Tate under the name Jurgen Vries. Since then, he has used the name DT8 and most recently was part of DT8 Project. His most successful track in terms of chart came with "The Opera Song", which featured the vocal talents of Charlotte Church, credited on the sleeve as CMC. Several compilations of dance tunes by major labels have been mixed by Tate and reached the charts. The first official DT8 Project album, called Perfect World, was released on 1st October 2007. It was a double album, the second containing remixes from many of the worlds leading producers.

Darren is also known as an international DJ. As well as headlining many major events and touring across the globe he finds time to host the monthly ‘Mondo Sessions’ (with co-host Dale Corderoy) which is syndicated across a global international radio station network (including Ministry of Sound Radio, Digitally Imported (DI.FM), ETN, Rise FM, Fresh FM and others). In addition he has performed mix duties on albums such as ‘Beyond Euphoria (MOS)’, ‘Trance Republic (with John Askew and Agnelli & Nelson)’ and most recently ‘Mondo Sessions 001’ with Mike Koglin.

Tate has also recorded under the name Citizen Caned and now heads Mondo Records,[2] a company which he started in 2000, with a growing reputation for finding talented young producers throughout the world. Also included in the Mondo umbrella are Mondo Publishing (established in 2004) and Mondo DJs (formed in 2007) which aims to support the best young performance DJ's around. In January 2008 Tate revealed during an interview on his official website that he was returning to his roots and doing some movie work, though he did not specify what this work was.
