Daniel James "Danny" Sonner (born 9 January 1972 in Wigan, England) is a Northern Irish international footballer, currently without a club after being released by Wrexham.

[edit] Career

A much-travelled midfielder he has represented his country 14 times.

Plucked from obscurity from German third division football, he became a valuable squad member for George Burley's Ipswich Town. He, however fell out with the manager and was soon off to Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed free thought to be in the region of £75,000. With Wednesday he spent two seasons in the Premiership but was released from his contract upon their relegation. He then signed for Birmingham City where he returned to haunt his old club on Tuesday, 12 December 2000. By scoring in a 2–0 League Cup quarter-final victory over The Owls.[1][2] On 27 September 2007, Sonner left Walsall.[3]

On January 11, 2008, Sonner and fellow Saddlers team mate, Paul Hall both joined League Two strugglers Wrexham.[4] He was released by Wrexham in May 2008 following the club's relegation to the Football Conference.[5]
