Danny Jacobs (born 25th June 1980) is a tall defender who has the ability to run with the ball off the backline. He can also play as a forward, and has 27 goals to his name. He played for Essendon from 1999-2003, before being traded to Hawthorn at the end of the 2003 season. Unfortunately, Jacobs has been plagued by injuries to his hand, back, and jaw.
In 2006, the Hawks signed Jacobs on for another two years.
On 13 March 2008, Jacobs announced his retirement from AFL football because of his hip injury getting worse and worse. He said, "If I keep playing with my hip injury, then probably by the time I'm 40 years old, I'll be in a wheelchair.."
