Danny Dyer (born 24 July 1977) is an English actor and television presenter.[1]

Danny Dyer was born in Canning Town[2] and is still currently based in east London together with his family. He is well-known for supporting his local football team West Ham United often attending Upton Park for home games. Dyer has two daughters Dani and Sunnie with his childhood sweetheart, Joanne. Dyer has his eldest daughter Dani's name tattooed on his arm in Chinese characters.

Dyer was spotted at his local Sunday school by an agent who auditioned him for the part of Martin Fletcher in the acclaimed Granada Television series Prime Suspect 3 (1993). At the age of 14 he played the role of a rent boy and found himself working alongside actress Helen Mirren.[3] He had brief appearances in Cadfael, A Touch of Frost starring David Jason and Loved Up, and made appearances in the television series Thief Takers (1996) and Soldier Soldier (1991).[4]

Dyer's first major film appearance came when he landed the role of Moff in the clubbing film Human Traffic (1999). More television, film and theatre work followed including the Mel Smith's film High Heels and Low Lifes. Danny also starred in football film Mean Machine with Vinnie Jones. Dyer has starred in all four films by the British film director Nick Love: Goodbye Charlie Bright (2001), The Football Factory (2004), The Business (2005) and Outlaw (2007). He also starred in one of Christopher Smith's films as the character Steve in Severance (2006)

Dyer is currently involved in two UK film features 7 Lives and City Rats due to be released in 2008.[5] and he is currently filming Adulthood.

Dyer has appeared on stage in both London and New York, notably in plays by English dramatist Harold Pinter: Celebration at the Almeida Theatre and a revival of No Man's Land at the National Theatre.[6]

March 2008 saw Danny appearing in a revival of Pinter's The Homecoming at the Almeida.[7]

Dyer was seen in the Channel 4 drama Second Generation, directed by John Sen; he is the presenter of the popular British TV show on Bravo The Real Football Factories and The Real Football Factories International where Dyer travels around the UK and the world meeting and interviewing all the different football club fans and hooligans[8] He also starred in Skins as Michelle's stepdad Malcolm.[9] Also in 2008 comes a BBC Television series from BBC Northern Ireland called Breathless in which Danny stars as 'Matt Costello' alongside Louise Lombard of CSI and The House of Eliott. Danny presented an award for best female, won by Amy Winehouse at the 2007 Vodafone live music awards.[citation needed] In 2007, Dyer appeared in The Twang's video for "Two Lovers".[10]. Dyer also appeared in the second series of Hotel Babylon on the BBC in 2007 as part of a football team.

Dyer was featured in 2002's best-selling video game, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and in 2004's best-selling game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.[11] voicing Kent Paul.

On the 23 December 2007 it was announced that Danny Dyer became the Chairman of Kent League's Greenwich Borough F.C. in south east London. He was signed on by fellow actor Tamer Hassan who is the President of the Kent League club.[12]

Dyer also plays football for the West Ham United team on Sky One's Premier League Allstars.
