Dallastown Area High School

Dallastown Area High School is an American High School which has approximately 1850 students and is located in Dallastown Area School District in Dallastown, Pennsylvania which is in York County, Pennsylvania.
Currently, the school offers 13 Advanced Placement courses and a dual-enrollment partnership for juniors and seniors with York College of Pennsylvania and Penn State York.
It was started around 1929 with the combining of a few local one room school houses that were filled with farm children. Most noted was the Keener School House on Iron Stone Hill Road which supplied the most students and was the most popular. Blue and White were chosen as the school's colors with silver as an accent; the wildcat was chosen as the mascot.
Dallastown Area High School has many extra-curricular activities, a few examples are a Volunteer club, a Red Cross Club, an Envirothon team, and a very active music department including a marching band, concert band, wind ensemble, orchestra, string ensemble, jazz ensemble, concert choir, select vocal ensemble, and a girls' choir. Every year, all faucets of the music and english departments come together to produce the annual spring musical. This year, the production was Thoroughly Modern Millie. The school's Student Council provides an annual homecoming dance, tailgate party, senior citizens' conference, various dances, as well as a spring coffee house. A local chapter of the National Honor Society exists at Dallastown and does an annual flower sale and a clothing drive, all for charity.
Dallastown's school newspaper, The Beacon, is published monthly, and the yearbook, The Spectator, is produced annually. Each are student-run.
The Science department at Dallastown is one of the best in the county. Every year, the annual Science and Engineering Fair includes projects from students in grades 7-12 and includes a Junior (7-9) and Senior (10-12) division. Each year, students from Dallastown qualify for the York County Science and Engineering Fair where Dallastown has consistently won top honors. Usually, Dallastown is always represented at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Other activities include the Annual Night of Science and the Physics Olympics.
The high school also has sports for males, females, and also co-eds. Dallastown boasts one of the best swimming and diving, wrestling, tennis, field hockey, and golf teams in York County. Their team is part of PIAA triple or quad A, District 3, and YAIAA Division I. In 2007, all of Dallastown Area High School's fall sports teams went on to compete in District III post-season play.
