Dale Winton, (born May 22, 1955 in London) is an English radio DJ and television presenter. He was well known in Nottingham for his stint at Radio Trent, for his morning show from 1975 till 1984. He later worked for Beacon Radio.
He has presented shows including Dale's Supermarket Sweep, and Pets Win Prizes. He is currently well known for presenting the Saturday night National Lottery show, In It To Win It. In 1997, he also presented the final of The Great British Song Contest, the UK's national pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, due to a tie-in with the lottery programme. Since 2004, he has presented celebrity weight loss "boot camp" programme, Celebrity Fit Club. From April 1, 2000 to August 28, 2004 Dale hosted Pick of the Pops from 2.00-3.30 pm on Saturday afternoons on BBC Radio 2, taking over from Alan Freeman. From September 18, 2005, Dale returned to Radio 2 presenting Pick of the Pops once again, every Sunday afternoon from 3.30-5.00 pm.
In 2002 he released his autobiography in which he wrote about his rise to fame, his actress mother's suicide and came out about his sexuality.
In 2003 he appeared in the BBC mock doccumentary "Dale Winton's Wedding" in which he supposedly married the UK celebrity Nell McAndrew
In April 2006, Dale guest presented the BBC's pop quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and in 1999 he had a cameo on the sitcom Gimme Gimme Gimme with Kathy Burke (episode title Do They Take Sugar?). Dale was also seen as the camp, over-the-top, game show presenter in Danny Boyle's film of Irvine Welsh's novel "Trainspotting". In August 2006 he was chosen to host Endemol's new show, Show Me What You've Got.
In 2008, he continues to host the successful BBC1 primetime Saturday night game show In It To Win It. He has also just completed a new pilot show for BBC1 called You've Got The Answer, which is a big money game show that surprises the public using hidden cameras. He can also be heard on BBC Radio 2 every Sunday afternoon presenting Pick of the Pops.
