In Strumica, a city in south-east Macedonia, there is cable internet through the company Cabel Net. The monthly cost of the cable internet service is 700 Denars (2100 Denars for the cable modem) which is about $16 which is not that bad actually. The speeds do not feel like a cable internet but it's an improvement from earlier. It is still broadband internet access but for some strange reason they only let you use the USB connection from the modem to the PC(not sure why) and the ethernet component of the cable modem is unused. Not only that using the USB is much slower also it does not alow you to use a network hub or a wireless router unless you pay extra, actually you need to pay double as you are paying for two different connections. On top of that every house hold has a static IP which is kinda strange. The reason why they are doing this is because they do not want people to connect more than one computer to one IP address because wireless routers are not that common and cheap in Macedonia and you pay extra if you want to use two or more IP addresses. Again another bad practise and taking advantage of people.
