Colin Kinsley

Colin Kinsley is the current mayor of Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. He has held this position since December 1996 and is now in is his fourth 3-year term. He has been a resident of Prince George since 1971. He recently announced that he will resign as mayor in November, 2008.

Before he began in public office, Kinsley worked for 30 years in the natural gas industry.

[edit] Early political career

Kinsley served as an alderman from 1984-1993. During that time, he also served four years as Chairman of the Regional District Board. He is Past Chair of the Federal Health Minister's Advisory Council on Rural Health and of the Federal Industry Minister's Advisory Group on Softwood Economic Initiatives for BC. He is a former president and now Life Member of the North Central Municipal Association. ^[1]

Aside from his mayoral duties, Kinsley is also the Director on the Board of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and is also a director on the Boards of several Prince George community groups including the Northern Medical School Program Action Group.

Colin Kinsley serves on the Board of BC Transit, is Vice-Chairman of the Municipal Finance Authority of British Columbia and is also a member of the BC Market Outreach Council.^[2]

Colin is the Vice-president for North America in the World Winter Cities Association of Mayors.

[edit] Task forces

In 2005 Kinsley was appointed to the Premier's Task Force on Homelessness, Mental Illness and Addictions. He has also served with the Softwood Lumber Task Force.
