[edit] Career

Hatchman began playing drums in the early 1980s when he was 8 years old. He played in marching bands, big bands, metal & punk bands, but found his home with rock bands.

Hatchman played with band Little Hornet in the 1990s recording 5 albums, releasing 12 singles and playing thousands of gigs, with some success. While the band was working on its 5th album, Col formed another band. In this band Col was the drummer & lead vocalist. The band was first called Chicaine, then later renamed Blue. They recorded 2 albums.

[edit] The Screaming Jets

Screaming Jets guitarist Grant Walmsley had seen Hatchman playing in Little Hornet. Walmsley was so blown away by Hatchman’s performance Col was asked to join his band, the Screaming Jets. The Jets had already released several previous albums & were looking for a replacement for their departed drummer Craig Rosevear.

Hatchman toured and played with the Jets, making headlines across the country and world, by being kicked off an aeroplane one Monday morning on the way home from tour. Col recorded a double live Album Live Forever in June 2001. Soon after, the Jets took a well-deserved break.

Col & the Screaming Jets began touring and performing again in late 2002 and recorded an E.P. called Heart of the Matter.

[edit] Dirty Skanks

Australian guitarist Nathan Cavaleri was looking to start a new band, and approached Col. The two of them teamed up and began jamming and writing new music. The band was named Dirty Skanks.

Hatchman was recording, mixing & shooting video clips for the Dirty Skanks debut album in between touring commitments with the Jets. At the end of 2003 the album, Voluptuosity was released with first single MILF being picked up by most radio stations in the country.

With touring schedules beginning to clash, Col left the Screaming Jets. The last show he played was filmed for a live DVD Rock On, which was released the following year.

More singles from Voluptuosity, “Backyard Parties” and “Shots”, came were released in 2005 which was received by all radio stations and picked up by all cable channels across Australia.

In August 2006, Hatchman broke the Guinness World Record, for the “Loudest Drummer In The World”. The sound of his acoustic drums being played was measured at 137.2 dBA.
