Coordinates: Clifton High School is a private school located in Bristol. It is a co-educational school for students of ages 3-11, and currently a female-only school for students of ages 11-18. The school focuses on opportunities in music, art and drama, offering regular concerts, exhibitions and productions.
The school has recently opened it's education to welcome boys into the sixth form from September 2008 and Year 7 from September 2009. The school will then therefore be fully co-educational. The decision to introduce boys was based on the school's want to modernise. There are plans to build a new sixth form block, which is to include modern architecture.
The house system is prominent on the school's charity work and activities. The houses are named after famous females. They are Odette (green), arguably the most athletic house, Austen (pink) and Curie (yellow), which is the most academic house.
The school has three traditional events held every year: The school carol service held in Christ Church Cathedral in Bristol, around the end of the Christmas term; Speeches, which is held in a large marquee, where speeches are given about the year. Girls are also presented academic prizes and commendations; And Rose Day, the most noted event, which is held in Bristol Cathedral. Hundreds of people attend and a school hymn is sung. After this church service, a lunch is prepared at the school.
Facilities that are present on campus include a sports centre, swimming pool, multimedia language centre and two IT labs.
