Hi all I have just started this page and intend to add more as time allows. Adrian Baker 22:30, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

How about putting in a more comprehensive definition of a classic vehicle or bike. Is it one that is 25, 50 years old? --Blainster 16:30, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
It all depends on the club or group. Most classic race clubs have a cut off for two strokes of 1967 and for 4 strokes a few years later (~1974) There is no definitive guide though. Some guidelines would be useful, but from which country/club/group? Adrian Baker 21:39, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
I disagree with your bit saying classic racing is run by the CRMC, because you assume/infer that you are only talking about Road Racing and you then go on to contradict yourself by talking about the VMCC. Classic motocross, would be Pre-65/67 racing, classic trials is again pre65/67. As for definition there isn't one! but it can either be a rolling "anything" 25 years old, or more normally its the period between WW2 and the first really competitive Japanese bikes (hence the Pre-65 or 67 titles), earlier is the Vintage era and latter is the "Twinshock" era Pickle 20:58, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What is Classic racing?

Hi Pickle. 'Classic' racing is such a broad term that it is indeed almost impossible to define. However, the VMCC do cater for older bikes, specifically pre 1963, and refer to themselves as the VMCC to show that they are different from the CRMC who cater more widely for bikes of a later era. A new page on Vintage racing, or an expansion of this page would perhaps help? In the UK, Classic Racing does really mean the CRMC. The largest Classic Race of all is the Manx Grand Prix and their definitions of what is a Classic are based on the CRMC definitions. The CRMC themselves now have 'post classic' classes that they have renamed Groups 3 and 4 depending on the bike. It is complicated!

I have raced twinshock motorcross and agree totally that there are Classic classes in motocross and trials. These sports are not normally referred to as 'Classic Racing' though, but a section explaining about them would certainly add to the page. Classic Racing could also of course refer to Classic car racing too!!! Adrian Baker 16:40, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Exactly, the article is by inference referring to "Classic *Road* Racing" (of motorcycles), but standing back and taking a broader view, "Classic Racing" could mean any form of motocross, track racing, enduros and yes even cars! If it was Classic Motorsport (as opposed to Racing) Trials would be included within its scope. A tough cookie to nail down! Pickle 15:03, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
