Clarence Herschberger (July 24, 1876 – December 14, 1936) was an American football fullback and placekicker. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1970. Under Coach Amos Alonzo Stagg at the University of Chicago, Herschberger was believed to be the first player to do an onside kick, run the Statue of Liberty play, and most likely the first player to ever receive an x-ray for an injury.
