Claes G. Ryn

Claes Gösta Ryn, Ph.D (born 12 June 1943) is Professor of Politics at The Catholic University of America. He is also chairperson of the National Humanities Institute and editor of the academic journal Humanitas.
Ryn was born and raised in Norrköping in Sweden. He has previously taught at the University of Virginia and at Georgetown University.
Ryn's fields of teaching and research include ethics and politics; politics and culture; and the history of Western political thought.
His students include Dr. Michael P. Federici, Mercyhurst College (author of Eric Voegelin), Dr. Wes McDonald, Elizabethtown College (author of the definitive biography of Russell Kirk) and Dr. H. Lee Cheek, Jr., a leading scholar of American political thought.
