CKE Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: CKR) is the parent company of the Carl's Jr., Hardee's, Green Burrito, and Red Burrito restaurant chains. Its headquarters are in Carpinteria, California. It was incorporated in 1964 by Carl's Jr. founder Carl Karcher as Carl Karcher Enterprises, Inc.

In 2007, it sold La Salsa fresh mex restaurants.[1] From 1996 to 1999, the company also owned the Rally's drive-up hamburger chain [1], and it owned Taco Bueno from 1996 until 2001. The company acquired Hardee's in 1997.
The current CEO is Andrew Puzder, who received his juris doctorate in 1978 from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and is a member of California, Nevada and Missouri bar associations, and has served as CKE CEO since September 2000.[2]

After Carl Karcher's death, the company announced that both West Coast-based Carl's Jr. and St. Louis, Missouri-based Hardee's will have all of the same menu items around summer 2008; this marks Hardee's in the Eastern United States to replace the Thickburger campaign with the Charbroiled Burgers name, so it can be used just the same as Carl's Jr. in the Western United States.
The company also announced that there are more plans to expand Carl's Jr. up to about 19 Western U.S. states and Hardee's up to about 37 Eastern U.S. states, which marks their operation of over 8,000 restaurants in all 50 U.S. states by the end of 2008.
