Cisownica

Cisownica is a village in Gmina Goleszów, Cieszyn County, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland, close to the border with the Czech Republic. It has a population of 1,600 (2005 est.). It lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia on the slopes of Mała Czantoria.
It was first mentioned in a written document in 1305. The name of the village is derived from taxus trees ("cis" in Polish) which have grown here in the past in large numbers.
In the 18th and 19th centuries a siderite was mined here. Exploitation lasted till 1870.
There is a church of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church built in 1981 in the village. Cisownica in recent years became a popular tourist destination, thanks to the vicinity of the Silesian Beskids mountain range.
