Chuy's is a Tex-Mex chain restaurant with various locations in Texas, USA in Austin, San Antonio, Round Rock, Houston and Dallas. Sister restaurants are Shady Grove, Hula Hut and Chuy's Boatyard.
The traditional Tex-Mex cuisine includes enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas, and tacos. Every year on Elvis Presley's birthday (January 8), most locations host the Elvis' Birthday Bash, during which a fake Elvis visits the restaurant for some well-known song and dance. Chuy's also annually hosts the Green Chile Festival, celebrating the harvest of the Hatch Green Chiles from Hatch, New Mexico. In addition, Chuy's is a sponsor of community events such as the Hot To Trot 5K and the Children Giving to Children Holiday Parade.
On May 29, 2001, President George W. Bush's daughter Barbara was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol at Chuy's , while on the same night at the same bar, her twin sister Jenna was charged with trying to use a third party's identification (fake ID with the name "Barbara Pierce," her paternal grandmother's maiden name) to purchase alcohol. A manager had called 911, not normal procedure,[1] later telling police "I want them to get into big trouble".[2]
