In November 1976 Spedding recorded a session with The Vibrators for the John Peel Show. Songs included 'Motorbikin, 'Misunderstood', 'Hurt', 'Pogo Dancing' and Get Outa My Pagoda'. He also played on stage with them.

This relationship did not endure. However, The Vibrators are still in playing and are currently on tour in the UK. A highlight of their career was supporting Iggy Pop (whose band included Ron Sales and David Bowie on keyboards) when he played at The Friars Aylesbury, UK. On taking the stage their lead singer proclaimed 'We're the band that make the Rolling Stones look like old men".

In 2007 they were on the EASTER PUNK FEAST TOUR with Angelic Upstarts.

Spedding was also in John Cale's band for a time in the mid-70s.
