Christopher "Big Black" Boykin (born January 26, 1972) is a ex professional bodyguard, but is best known for his role on MTV's television show Rob & Big which followed him and his co-host/best friend Rob Dyrdek.
Boykin is a U.S. Navy veteran, where he was a chef [1]
Boykin worked as an executive protection specialist until he met Dyrdek in 2003. Dyrdek hired Big Black to play a bodyguard in a skit for "The DC Video." In the skit, Rob hired Big Black to be a bodyguard in order to protect him from security guards. [2] In 2004 they played their characters again in "The DC Video: Deluxe Edition DVD." [3]
Boykin is also a member of the hip-hop group "The Chunky Boys." The group is made of 4 members: Big Black, Bam Bam, Zeus, and Steve OG. They describe their music as "a collage of chunky material influenced by our size as well as our girth." Bam Bam and Big Black of The Chunky Boys are featured on fictitious Bobby Light's song "Dirty Girl" Who was portrayed by Drydek. The song is a collaboration of Rob Dydrek, Big Black, Bam Bam, and Drama (Chris Pfatf). It was recorded at their house and a crudely made music video was created shortly after. All of this was featured during an episode from the second season of Rob & Big. [4]
Boykin also has his own clothing line. The clothes are available through his online store, BigBlackSecurity.com. The store sells shirts and accessories for men, women, and children. [5]
On January 22, 2008 during his appearance on The Jimmy Kimmel show, Boykin had announced that he had recently gotten married and moved out of Rob Dyrdek's home. [6]
According to People magazine, Boykin was expected to have his first child in February of 2008. Word spread about the pregnancy in October of 2007 and was reported by several online celebrity news sites. The baby girl was due on February 15, 2008. The child is named after the Egyptian goddess Isis. He stated to People that it was a "great feeling" and plans on keeping "in tune with what these kids are into, so I can make sure I'm on top of my daughter." [7] The mother of the child is unknown.
In a recent interview, Boykin was asked many questions about his and Rob's future on TV. Boykin said that Rob would be returning to the sport that made him famous, and that he had enough reality TV. Boykin on the other hand, said he and some friends were going to have their own show about his life, career, and expansion of his Double B brand clothing. He also stated it would not be shown on MTV, because "they are too cheap," but you can look for it on Showtime, G4, or Spike TV. The future of Meaty and Mini was also said. Mini was given to the lady who had been training him since Season 2, and Meaty will be staying with Rob. But Black is ok with that, because he gets to keep Meaty's sister. Yes, Meaty had a sister that was never shown on the show, but may have a part in Boykin's upcoming show. [8]
