Christoph von Marschall (born in 1959 in Freiburg im Breisgau) is a German Journalist and has been (since 1991) Editor of the daily Berlin newspaper Der Tagesspiegel, for which he is presently working as a US Correspondent in Washington. Before that, he was Director of the commentary section. He studied East European History and Political Science in Freiburg, Mainz, und Krakau, and obtained his doctorate in 1988. Soon afterwards, he was a correspondent in Hungary until 1991 for the Süddeutsche Zeitung. There, he worked for Deutschlandfunk and the magazine Cicero.
In 2002, he received the German-American Commentary Award of the Foreign Office for a commentary post related to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. In 2007, he wrote a book about the presidential candidate Barack Obama.
His political orientation can be described as "Conservative Pro-American" and shows this through his participation in the so-called "Pro-western Homeland Evening." He's equally known for his balanced articles that are well-backgrounded.
