[edit] History

Christ Church Episcopal School was founded in 1959, under the sponsorship and authority of Christ Church Episcopal, largely by the work of the Reverend Father Tom Roberts, but also the Reverend Raymond Crawford Ramage M.D. The school opened in the fall of 1959 with grades 1 through 6. The Reverend Dr. Claude E. Guthrie served as the school's first headmaster. The school moved into a new building in 1960. Additional grades were added annually until the school provided first through twelfth grades.

In 1973 ground-breaking ceremonies were held for the art wing, auditorium, and the McCall Field House, named in honor of Arthur C. McCall, one of the moving forces behind the creation of CCES in 1959.

In 2002 the Lower School moved to Cavalier Drive and the Upper School moved to their new building, so all the divisions were on campus. In 2005 the Chapel of the Good Shepherd was completed. In 2006 the Cavalier Training Center that overlooks the football field was finished.
