Christopher Ralph Pérez (born July 1, 1985 in Holmes Beach, Florida), is a right-handed relief pitching prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Perez pitched for the University of Miami and was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1st Round (42nd overall) of 2006 amateur entry draft. He is 6' 4", 225 lbs.
He was added to the Cardinals 25-man active roster from AAA-Memphis on May 16, 2008.
He was 1-1 with a team-leading eight saves (4th in Pacific Coast League) and a 2.04 ERA in 18 games for the Memphis Redbirds. He fanned 22 batters in his 17.2 IP, walked just nine and allowed only 12 hits. He resides in Tampa, Florida.[1]
He made his debut the same day he was called up, May 16, 2008.
Parez has also been clocked to pitch 103 mph on the radar gun.
