Chris Kelsey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chris Kelsey (June 5, 1961-present) is an American jazz musician, composer, and journalist who was born in Bangor, Maine. Kelsey is one of the few prominent jazz musicians to focus exclusively on the soprano saxophone.
Beginning in the 1990s, Kelsey recorded a number of CDs under his own name, mostly for the C.I.M.P. label. As a critic, he's written for a number of jazz publications, including Cadence, Jazziz, and JazzTimes magazines. He's also written extensively for the All Music Guide. As a musician, Kelsey is known for his distinctive, iconoclastic style; as a writer, for sometimes harsh, contrarian critical stances.
