Christopher Francis "Chris" Hogg (born March 21, 1985 in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire) is an English footballer, currently vice captain of Hibernian. He was educated at Conyers School, Yarm.
Hogg was international captain for England U15s and trialled with Manchester United. He signed for Ipswich Town when they were a Premiership club, but he was prevented from playing for their first team because of a clause in his transfer from York City. Due to the precarious financial situation at Portman Road, Ipswich simply could not afford to play him. Hogg was severely injured whilst trying to prevent a car robbery in Middlesbrough in January 2005.[1]
Because of the financial restrictions at Ipswich, Hogg was transferred to Hibernian in January 2005. Hibernian's then manager Tony Mowbray was aware of Hogg from his time coaching at Ipswich. He initially struggled to establish himself in the Hibernian first team.
Hogg started to win a regular place from January 2007 under the management of John Collins. He played in the 2007 Scottish League Cup Final against Kilmarnock, which Hibs won 5-1. Hogg formed a solid defensive partnership with Hibs captain Rob Jones. Hogg then signed a contract until June 2011 with Hibernian in June 2007.[2]
