Chor Bazaar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chor Bazaar is an area in South Mumbai famous for its second-hand goods. Although the name Chor means "thief" in Hindi, the name is actually a corruption of the word Shore which means noise. The area is one of the tourist attractions of the city. It is a basically an "organized" flea market, where one has to rumage through dirt to find treasures.
In addition the name Chor Bazaar was adopted by an Indie-Indian fusion clothing company called Chor Bazaar. Chor Bazaar, used this name because they are appropriating from Indian culture and producing graphics that are kitsch free. They avoid the use of what the media has portrayed South Asian Culture to be, by avoiding the use of religion and derogatory portrayals.
