Chong Eng (Chinese: 章瑛; pinyin: Zhāng Yīng) was born on July 6, 1957, is a Malaysian politician of the Democratic Action Party party. Chong obtained her degree in Human Development Studies from UPM and is currently the Member of Parliament for Bukit Mertajam, Penang.
Married to Mr. Guna who is an artist, the couple have two boys, who are currently still schooling, one in a local college studying Engineering, while the other is in a Chinese-type Primary school.
A prolific writer who has published three books and have written numerous articles in the local Chinese dailies, Chong Eng blogs at [chongeng.org]
Chong Eng is passionate about issues concerning the welfare and development of women in the society, healthcare and education. She is currently the chairperson of the DAP Wanita, the party's women's wing and also the Deputy Secretary General sitting in the party's National Committee.
