"Chocolate Salty Balls" is a fictional confectionery candy product, produced by the character Chef on the television series South Park, in the episode "Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls".

The name of the snack leads to a series of double entendres involving Chef's testicles. Cartman says, "I love your chocolate salty balls, Chef!" This is followed by Kyle who gushes, "You've got the best balls in the whole world, Chef!" Chef, who at the time was voiced by singer Isaac Hayes, also sings a related song that continues the sexual references:

Say everybody, have you seen my balls?
They're big and salty and brown.
If you ever need a quick pick-me-up
Just stick my balls in your mouth.
Oooh, suck on my chocolate, salty balls.
    (Put 'em in your mouth!)
Put 'em in your mouth and suck 'em and suck 'em...

The song, titled "Chocolate Salty Balls (P.S. I Love You)" also appears on Chef Aid: The South Park Album. It reached number-one on the UK Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Chart, and was also a top 20 hit in Australia, peaking at #14 in February 1999. The song was never played on the BBC's weekly TV chart show Top of the Pops, despite hitting number 1, because it hit number 1 in Christmas week, when there was no show. This saved some embarrassment in showing the innuendo-filled song during prime-time family TV. The song also contains the line "Well, that don't confront me none as long as I get my rent paid on Friday," lifted almost verbatim from the classic blue song John L's House Rent Bookie by John Lee Hooker.

[edit] Recipe

The lyrics of the song reveal the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 or 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 stick melted butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1 or 2 bags sugar

Directions: Mix the cinnamon, egg whites, and melted butter in a bowl with a wooden spoon. Mix in the flour, then the unsweetened chocolate, brandy, sugar, and vanilla. Place balls on a greased cookie sheet and bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees. Care should be taken when baking, as the length of time in the oven is not specified.

It's possibly notable this recipe does not mention salt as an ingredient. A practical recipe for the confection can be found in Isaac Hayes' book, Cooking with Heart & Soul.
