[edit] Pronunciation

Because I love playing devil's advocate, while it may be necessary, I don't think a livejournal post is a very good source ;) Isn't there a better link that can be used? --Casiotonetalk 22:51, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

every chiodos fan i know is an elitist and thinks they know everything about hardcore. stfu

that is true. every elitist scene kid likes this band Burger king 22:34, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
I am not scene, and only slightly elitist(a liberal, sorry. I am also a fan of these guys, but I do not think I know everything about hardcore. Rather I use this as a band a point of reference when talking about real emo music. And to weigh in on the pronunciation, I pronounce it Chee-oe-dose. Also, sign your posts.71.202.92.48 00:12, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Having been to their shows and hearing their own singer pronounce the name it is, indeed, "Chee-yo-dose". Nickvsshark 19:11, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I love this band and I never claim that my music is hardcore, emo, scene, or whatever.

The source says that it is "chee-oh-dose". (Follow the link, you'll see.) Unless someone comes up with a link to the contrary, it needs to stay that way. - Che Nuevara 16:48, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Who put them down as "KEE-oh-dose"? It's "Chee-oh dose"! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arscey (talk • contribs) 16:01, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Everyone: Please stop reverting the pronunciations. Wikipedia guidelines establish that IPA pronunciations should be used so that pronunciations are internationally recognizable. Please see WP:IPA. - Che Nuevara 23:06, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability concerns

Are we sure that this band is well-known enough for a Wikipedia article? What part of WP:MUSIC do they qualify under? --Elonka 19:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I added a ton of references for notability. Chubbles1212 23:43, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

what is being screamed in the background on the acoustic of "lindsay quit lollygagging" when he says i hope she's perfectly fine at the end?

Ummm yeah they are notable enough... how about the fact that they are touring in warped tour and have shows with other large bands... plus they have some 200,000 fans on myspace.... believe me it qaulifies. - Gellister

They play on one of largest and most respected indie labels. They are aslo notable under part three of WP:MUSIC "Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country, reported in reliable sources." Chidos has been touring the United States in support of "All's Well That End's Well" for 2-3 years now. Nickvsshark 21:49, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

The notability concern has passed. It's quite clear that the entry merits inclusion. Chubbles 22:10, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV

I tagged one section for neutrality, though perhaps the whole article could use a bit of cleaning up. Seems like at least the Concert section was written by a band member or close friend/fan. ~~ Meeples (talk)(email) 02:06, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I think that the concert section should be deleted, because not everyone of their concerts are the same. So it doesn't make sense to put one type of concert without putting out the rest. Tinkleheimer 05:19, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

IT'S JUST A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WHAT THEY DO IN CONCERT... every band doesn't have the same show twice but when we mention the concerts there are certain elements that stick out. - gellister

Not really. They aren't as strange as Showbread or chaotic as As I Lay Dying. They aren't as energetic as Family Force 5 and aren't as freaky as System of a Down. They are just average of what you would see with a band of their genre. They are energetic, but not "Oh my God, these guys are so unique." You know what I'm saying? IronCrow 01:26, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Emo?

Chiodos is clearly not emo.

...Are you operating under some strange, otherworldly definition of the word 'emo'? They might not be first wave or oldschool emo, but they're still well within the bounds of emo music today.

Please sign them all. They define themselves Emo on their myspace, so take it up with them. Tinkleheimer 21:18, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Myspace is not a refutable source. Under the Desaparecido's Myspace it says they are afro beat/christian rap.

^ They think they are funny. Now that's funny.

Yeah, on Anti-Flag's Myspace, it says, "Punk/Rock/Crunk". And i'm pretty damn sure that Anti-Flag is NOT crunk. CrayZsaaron (talk) 23:09, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Wtf is pianocore?

piano playing that is hardcore. Evaunit666 02:05, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

o.0 Hardcore piano playing. What next?

XD everythings hardcore nowadays -Evaunit666

If you're gonna brag about stuff, say something worthwhile. I live in the same town as Brad Bell's mother, have talked to him at a local coffee house, and have held various conversations with him at several shows.RosesNRevolvers 18:38, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Oh... and Chiodos isn't really emo. They're definitely way more post-hardcore. But they're one of the closest things to actual emo that exist today. RosesNRevolvers 18:39, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

just wondering...are chiodos good in concert?

Yeah, they're pretty intense. Usually hard to hear the keyboards, though. Chubbles 23:22, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

awesome thanks i was thinking about seeing them at warped

they may not sound emo, with there music, but there lyrics are definataley emo.

^^If you go by that logic, then the backstreet boys are emo and so is Johnny Cash. -RosesNRevolvers 21:02, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Not all bands put their Myspace up themselves. But, I would classify them as Screamo, not really just Emo. Emo doesn't really contain screams, while it's subgenre, Screamo, does. Wikipedia says this about Screamo: "Characteristic of the genre are "loud-to-soft" (sometimes chaotic) dynamics, harmonized guitars with fast-paced riffs and twinkly melodic breaks, frantic/abrasive shouting or screaming, angry/abstract/introspective lyrics, low-end production, and exceptionally energetic live shows." I dunno, but Emo (as their only genre) bands tend to be less heavy than Screamo, and Chiodos aren't light, they can tend to be pretty heavy... with some exceptions. They aren't Post-HArdcore, Post-Hardcore would be like Project 86. Just my thoguhts.IronCrow 01:20, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Screamo is Orchid, just because they scream in the songs doesn't mean they're screamo. Chiodos is a typical modern post-hardcore band. What makes you think it's not post-hardcore? By the way, emo means emotional hardcore, not emotional for those of you who didn't know that. And one more thing, "post-hardcore" is not an option on MySpace, that is why no band is considered as post-hardcore on MySpace.Hakmexul 19.00, 7. april 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Releases

Who keeps putting random songs on the singles list? "The Undertakers..." was not on "Alls Well...", and whats up with putting three singles at once? It's like it changes every week! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arscey (talk • contribs) 19:16, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] pronunciation again

Here we have a source claiming to have heard chee-OH-doze rather than -dose on TV. Does anyone know which is used? The interview source we have now claims -dose, but that may be an error. kwami (talk) 18:37, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] craig owens

should he have his own article? he's in three different bands and pretty notable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zackurrry (talk • contribs) 23:55, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
