China Digital Times is a news portal covering China's political and social transformation. It provides daily news digest about China, as well as rich links for its context. The website mines the wealth of information available online in both English and Chinese and provides cultural, social and political through the innovative use of Web 2.0 technologies, such as Weblogs, Wiki, RSS, social bookmarking, tagging, and photo and video sharing. The editors augment this information with original content including reporting, translation, interviews, analysis, and commentary from a community of experts and participants and encourage dialogue and debate on relevant issues. Its content also contains podcasts, book club and slideshow and become a public forum that provides an uncensored look at China and its transition.
Launched in November 2003 by Xiao Qiang, China Digital Times is run by the China Internet Project out of the Graduate School of Journalism, University of California, Berkeley.
According to Alexa.com, visitors of China Digital Times site are coming from more than one hundred countries. The China Digital Times website is currently blocked and not freely accessible from mainland China.
