I saw that you were on [[Category:New Hampshire Wikipedians]], and I was wondering if you'd like to join us in improving content related to New Hampshire at Wikiproject New Hampshire. Please let me know if I can help you out with anything. karmafist 23:17, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Source for claim that HL2 and source engine is based on quake?

Could you please provide a source for your claim that the Source Engine is based on Quake? If you can't, then I'm removing that claim from the Quake page. I'm pretty sure valve started from a blank slate.DoomBringer 06:10, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

"The Source engine is a 3D game engine developed largely internally by Valve Software" from the Source engine page. The words "developed largely internally" means that it was built by Valve, not by licensing Quake1. I'm reverting your edit. DoomBringer 06:21, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
More: [1] "While Valve looked at licensing an engine for the sequel--such as id's Quake III engine--the team concluded that no outside technology was a good match for Valve's ambitious plans." Sorry, the claim you try to make is false. DoomBringer 06:26, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
If you check out Carmack's blog entry sometime in 2004 or early 05, he says he's not worried about how big HL2 would sell, as they're still paying royalties for Q1 engine use for HL2. That's one thing, also the null texture pattern, particle effects (TE_EXPLOSION, etc) and even mostly the same BSP format which are carried from HL are also found in the Quake engine. CheapAlert 22:54, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
You've already answered my one question (does Id still get royalties). I'll think about this. (see quake discussion page for a few of my concerns) DoomBringer 08:05, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Red arremer on your userpage

Hi. I noticed you image on your userpage, and while its quite lovely, unfortunetly, Wikipedia's Wikipedia:fair use policy doesn't allow this. If you think there is a legitimate question as to its usability on Wikipedia please feel free to make an inquiry, but it cannot be allowed. It's a copyright matter and, this being a free encyclopedia whose ethos is very much based on respect for intellectual property, we should take it seriously. I won't remove it, but I thought it constructive to give you fair warning about this matter, as another user might not be so understanding. -ZeroTalk 14:31, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

You've taken no heed. I've since removed the image of violation from your userpage, and a re-inserion will probably result in a block. -ZeroTalk 14:26, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
I take it back and apologize for that hasty comment. I've reverted your userpage and its up to your descrestion to remove said image. We should follow the spirit of policy and not always strictly the letter. -ZeroTalk 14:46, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
