Chaville is a commune in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 12.5 km. (7.8 miles) from the center of Paris.

44% of the land is forest. It is bordered by Meudon forest and Fausse-Repose to the other side.

It was founded in the 9th century. It was called Inchadivilla, later Chadivilla and Cativilla and became Chaville.
It is located on route D910 between Paris and Versailles.
Today is a suburban city and is served by public transit and is crossed by three train lines.

Chaville is served by Chaville Rive Droite station on the Transilien Paris – Saint-Lazare suburban rail line.
It is also served by Chaville Rive Gauche station on the Transilien Paris – Montparnasse suburban rail line.
Southern Chaville is served by Chaville-Vélizy station on Paris RER line C. This station is located at the border between the commune of Chaville and the commune of Viroflay, on the Viroflay side of the border.
