Charles Lambart, 1st Earl of Cavan (1600- 1660) was an MP for the rotten borough of Bossiney and a military commander.

He held the office of Member of Parliament for Bossiney in 1626.
He held the office of Seneschal of the County Cavan and Kells in 1627.
He held the office of Member of Parliament for Bossiney from 1628 to 1629.
He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (Ireland).

He was commander of the forces of Dublin in 1642 helping to suppress the Irish Rebellion of 1641 with a 1000 strong infantry regiment.
When the governorship of Dublin became vacant, Lord Leicester appointed George Monck to the position. Charles I, however, overruled the appointment in favour of Lambart.

He was created 1st Viscount Kilcoursie, in the King's County (Ireland) on 1 April 1647. He was created 1st Earl of the County of Cavan (Ireland) on 1 April 1647.
