Charles DeChant

Charles "Mr. Casual" DeChant is the saxophone and keyboard player for the multi-platinum selling recording artists Hall & Oates. He has been playing in the band since its inception in the early 1970s and is most noted for his saxophone solo in the Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit "Maneater." DeChant also plays with several local bands in Orlando, FL; his home town. An accomplished saxophonist, he also plays the flute, piano and guitar. web site: http://www.CharlieDeChantWorld.com
For years, DeChant played with Hall & Oates, touring with them and featuring on their albums. In addition, DeChant also built his reputation by playing with other stars including Mick Jagger, The Temptations, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, and The Average White Band. DeChant is now a writer, producer, and solo artist.

The saxophone solo in "Maneater" runs from 2:44 to 3:24 of the total video time of 4:18. This video was recorded in the 1980s (song hit the Billboard Chart in 1982). DeChant is shown playing the saxophone while wearing a light grey suit and off-pink/rose shirt with a light-blue narrow tie. His sax is held by a neck strap. He is wearing sunglasses. The "maneater" black cat (jaguar) is interposed with his image in the saxophone solo.

The saxophone solo in the 1983 Hall & Oates music video "Say It Isn't So" runs from 4:00 to 4:24 of the total video time of 5:08. The video is filmed on a city waterfront. DeChant appears wearing a men's knee to ankle length fur coat. Charles is also shown in the opening of the video as the "band" is depicted walking to the video set site location. He is wearing characteristic red boots. The video is apparently filmed in New York City and at approximately 5:03 shows the World Trade Center Twin Towers.

DeChant appears behind Daryl and John as somewhat of a trio in a spotlight in the 1982 Darryl Hall and John Oates music video "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)." The saxophone solo/featurette(s) in the video runs from 2:41 to 2:57 and from 3:32 to 3:42 of the total video time of 4:08.
