Chan Kit Chu

Chat Kit Chu (Chinese: 陳傑柱), also known Anthony Chan (PMSM), one of Assistant Chief Commissioners in The Scout Association of Hong Kong. He has been a Scout in Hong Kong since 1962. He was a Senior Superintendent in Hong Kong Police Force when he retired in 2002.

Anthony joined the Royal Hong Kong Police Force as Constable in 1969 and was promoted to Inspector within 5 years of his service. He retired in 2002 after 33 years of distinguished service reaching the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police. He was awarded with a Police Meritorious Service Medal (PMSM) by the Hong Kong Government in 2000.

Anthony joined Scouting as a Senior Scout in 1962 and became a Senior Scout Leader in 1965. In 1975 he was appointed District Commissioner and in 1976 East Kowloon Regional Headquarters Commissioner for Sea Scouting. In 1978 Anthony was responsible for the setting up of a new Sea Scout Activities Centre at an inlet in Hebe Haven which he brought into fruition in 1984. It becomes the most well equipped and well managed Sea Activities Centre for youth groups in Hong Kong.

He was appointed as Regional Commissioner of East Kowloon Region in 1984. A post he held for the next 17 years which saw the repaid expansion of the Region with healthy growth of membership under his able Leadership.

Almost twenty years later in 2002, he was also single handedly responsible for securing donation and fund raising for the construction of the new 10.7 metre Sea Scout flagship – “Brown Sea Island” for the Sea Scouts of Hong Kong. Since 2002 he is an Assistant Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Hong Kong in charge of Projects. His current project is for the construction and setting up of the Leadership Training Institute situated in a beautiful peninsular directly opposite the Sea Scout Activity Centre in Hebe Haven. Mr. Chan is a member of the Asia Pacific Region (APR) Scout Profile Sub committee since 2004.
