Chamaedorea elegans (Neanthe Bella Palm or Parlour Palm) is a small palm tree, growing to 3 m tall with slender, cane-like stems.
[edit] Cultivation and uses
Chamaedorea elegans is often grown as a houseplant, and was particularly popular in the Victorian era. It originates from the rainforests of Latin America in Mexico and Guatemala. It grows to a maximum of two m tall with very slow growth, and prefers moderate to high humidity, but will grow in low to average home humidity. It can be grown in low light, but it grows best with bright, indirect light.
