Century Council

The Century Council is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce drunk driving and underage drinking. It promotes responsible decision-making regarding drinking or non-drinking and works to reduce all forms of irresponsible consumption. It creates strategic partnerships and develops and implements programs and public awareness campaigns. The Council stresses education, communications, research, law enforcement, and other means to reduce alcohol abuse.

Century Council programs include "Cops in Shops," [1], "Girl Talk," [2]" "Alcohol 101 Plus," “We Don’t Serve Teens” (developed with The Federal Trade Commission) [3] and “Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don’t Mix” (developed with Nickelodeon) [4]
The Century Council won an award from the National Commission Against Drunk Driving for its work promoting tougher drunken driving laws [5] and its “Alcohol 101 Plus” interactive CD-ROM program, designed to stop the misuse of alcohol on campuses, received the FREDDIE Award. [6]
The Century Council is chaired by former United States Congress member Susan Molinari.[2]
An independent Advisory Board assists the Council in developing programs.[3]
Financial support is provided by a group of alcoholic beverage distillers in the United States (Bacardi USA, Inc., Brown-Forman, Constellation Brands, Inc., DIAGEO, Future Brands LLC, Hood River Distillers, Inc., and Sidney Frank Importing Co., Inc.) that have invested over 175 million dollars in its programs since its founding in 1991.[4]
