Central Dauphin School District

Central Dauphin School District, is a public school district located in suburban Harrisburg, Pennsylvania serving students in central and eastern Dauphin County. It is the largest school district in the county, the largest in the greater Harrisburg metropolitan area and is the 13th largest school district in Pennsylvania. It was created in 1954, combining four smaller districts in the townships of Lower Paxton, Middle Paxton, West Hanover, and Swatara.[1] The district operates two high schools (grades 9-12), four middle schools (grades 6-8), and 13 elementary schools (grades K-5). It also operates its own transportation system, which it rents out to private schools within the district's borders. Total enrollment as of 2005-06 is 11,750 students.[1]
