Headquartered in Hong Kong, the company acquires from Shaw Brothers Studio and owns the Shaw Brothers film library, the world's largest Chinese film collection. The Shaw films represent all genres, including kung fu, action, social satire, situation comedies, historical epics, erotic movies, horror and suspense, among others.
In 2003, Celestial Pictures launched Celestial Movies, a 24-hour Chinese-movie channel, which has expanded to 11 territories across Asia Pacific. The company launched its second TV brand in February 2006; WaTV claims to be the first infotainment channel wholly dedicated to the "trendy youth" lifestyle of the "new China".
Celestial Pictures is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astro All Asia Networks plc.
