Carlos de la Garza was the drummer for numerous Los Angeles area bands including The Trenchtown Invaders, Suburban Rhythm, Meal Ticket, F.Y.P. Action League, Sugarcult, Lyra, The Valley Arena, Ray Barbee, and Reel Big Fish.

Carlos joined Suburban Rhythm in 1992 and was part of the band until their breakup. Later, he would leave Action League to replace Andrew Gonzales of Reel Big Fish. Over the next few years, de la Garza would tour extensively with Reel Big Fish and would play drums on the album Cheer Up!.
His last live performance with Reel Big Fish was taped and released on the The Show Must Go Off! DVD. The last song he played with Reel Big Fish was a cover of the A-ha hit "Take On Me," which lead singer Aaron Barrett introduced by saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, for the last time on the drums, Mr. Carlos de la Garza!". Carlos' reasons for leaving were to spend more time with his family and to concentrate on his recording career. The split with Reel Big Fish was amicable.

After leaving Reel Big Fish, Carlos worked at Capitol Recording Studios in Los Angeles where he participated on the critically acclaimed and Grammy winning soundtrack to Good Night and Good Luck, as well as Ry Cooder's Grammy winning album Chavez Ravine. He currently owns and operates Music Friends recording studio in Los Angeles, and works as a recording engineer and producer.
