Captain Underpants is a fictional character in the popular children's book series Captain Underpants. His superhero costume consists of only his underpants and a polka dot curtain used as a cape.

Originally the principal of Jerome Horwitz Elementary School, Mr. Krupp blackmailed George and Harold into doing many hard tasks to keep them from pulling pranks, which they were known for. The two boys then ordered a "3-D hypno-ring" from an advertisement, which was a hypnotizing device. They hypnotized him into thinking he was various animals (including a monkey and a chicken) and then their comic book hero, Captain Underpants. He then proceeded to fight Dr. Diaper, a super villain intending to blow up the moon and destroy every major city on Earth.
During their first adventure, George and Harold discovered that they could return the Captain to his state as Mr. Krupp by pouring water over his head.The problem was that every time anyone snapped their fingers, Mr. Krupp became Captain Underpants! The boys went on as normal, until circumstances in their third adventure gave Mr. Krupp super powers by giving him Extra-Strength Super Power Juice.
