If the CRV is 5 cents on a small bottle of water, why do the recycling centers only pay 3 cents?

       Some places ask you to remove the caps to facilitate crushing the container; leave the labels on; empty your containers as thoroughly as possible so the recycling dude ("specialist") won't deduct for the moisture.dephlogisicated 02:35, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Why don't they print a bar code on individual bottles that are sold by the case, so that reverse vending machines can be used?

       Because RVMs don't read bar codes anymore.  I work at a Replanet and our machines shine a light through the container to determine the color and then take a snapshot of the container's silouhette to determine size and material.  dephlogisicated 02:32, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
