Calvin Pace (born October 28, 1980 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American football linebacker for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He was originally drafted by Arizona Cardinals in the first round (18th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Wake Forest.
Pace played the first five years of his career in Arizona before signing with the New York Jets on March 3, 2008.

Pace attended Lithia Springs High School in Lithia Springs, Georgia from 1994 to 1998.

[edit] Freshman (1999)
In 1999, Pace played in seven games, and ranked 27th on the team in defense. For the season he recorded four tackles, two for a loss, two sacks and one pass deflected.[1]
[edit] Sophomore (2000)
In 2000, Pace finished fifth on the team on defense, with 50 tackles (33 solo), 12 tackles for a loss, with nine sacks.[2]

In 2001, Pace finished sixth on the team on defense, recording 62 tackles (36 solo), 18 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, one pass deflected and 11 quarterback hurries.[3]

In 2002, Pace finished third on the team on defense, recording 73 tackles (43 solo), 22 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, six passes deflected, and four quarterback hurries.[4]
While at Wake Forest, Pace was a two-time Second-team All-ACC selection and finished his college career with 189 tackles, 29 sacks, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

Pace was selected by Arizona Cardinals in the first round (18th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft.

In 2003, Pace started all 16 games. He recorded a total of 32 tackles and one sack.

In 2004, Pace played in 14 games. He recorded 12 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

In 2005, Pace played in only five games with one start. His season was ended when he suffered a laceration of his arm during the Cardinals bye week. Before Pace was placed on injured reserve he recorded 11 tackles and one sack.

In 2006, Pace played in all 16 games, starting five of them. He recorded 29 tackles and one sack.

In 2007, Pace started all 16 games at outside linebacker. He led the team with 106 tackles. Pace also recorded a career-high 6.5 sacks and one fumble.
During the season opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Pace recorded four tackles (two solo), and one pass deflected. In a week two win over the Seattle Seahawks, he recorded four tackles (four solo). During the week three Cardinals win at the Baltimore Ravens, he recorded four tackles (one solo), and one pass deflected. In a week four win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pace recorded eight tackles (five solo). During a week five win at the St. Louis Rams, he recorded two tackles (two solo). In a week six loss to the Carolina Panthers, Pace recorded three tackles (three solo). During the Cardinals week seven loss to the Washington Redskins, he recorded a season high 10 tackled (nine solo), one sack, and his first career interception, returning it for 14 yards, and one pass deflected as well. After the bye week, the Cardinals returned to play, losing in week nine at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where Pace tied his season high 10 tackles (nine solo). In the week 10 victory over the Detroit Lions, he recorded eight tackles (seven solo), 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. During a week 11 win at the Cincinnati Bengals, Pace recorded five total tackles (four solo), and three passes deflected. In a week 12 loss to the 49ers, he recorded seven total tackles (five solo). In a week 13 victory over the Cleveland Browns, Pace recorded five total tackles (four solo). During a week 14 loss to the Seahawks, Pace recorded seven tackles (seven solo). In Arizona's week 15 loss to the New Orleans Saints, he recorded five tackles (five solo). During a week 16 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Pace, once again tied his single season high, with 10 tackles (10 solo), and one sack. In the regular season finale win over the Rams, he recorded six tackles (three solo).

In his five seasons with the Cardinals, Pace played in 67 games with 38 starts recording 186 tackles, 14 sacks and 11 passes deflected. While with the Cardinals he also set career highs in tackles, sacks, interceptions, passes deflected and fumble recoveries in 2007 with 106 tackles, 6.5 sacks, six passes deflected, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one interception.

On March 3, 2008, Pace and the New York Jets came to terms on a six-year, $42 million deal that includes $22 million in guaranteed money.[5] He had turned down a previous offer with the Miami Dolphins prior to signing with the Jets.
