Their coat is speckled grey black forming a bluish shade, with some black patches [2]. It is flat or a little wavy with feathering on the ears, legs, underside and tail[3]. They have long legs with some setter characteristics [4]. They look more like a setter than a spaniel [5].

[edit] History
The Blue Picardy Spaniel was first recorded in the 1870's. They were bred from the English Setter and the Picardy Spaniel[7] in the Somme, Authi and Canache valley of Picardy, in France. When the Spaniel Club was founded in 1907 the different breeds of Spaniel were categorised. The Picard Spaniel and Blue Picardy Spaniel Club was formed in 1921 [8].
